Building Houses In High Velocity Hurricane Zones
Many spots in the country are considered high velocity hurricane zones. These are the areas where hurricanes do not only land frequently but also with destructive wind speed. The destruction of these hurricanes leaves many people dying with starvation because of drowned farmlands and livestock. And worse, many houses are destroyed contributing to the growing number of homeless families nationwide.
High velocity hurricane zones include coastlines, where many houses are battered to pieces either by smashing of tall waves or strong wind every year. Nevertheless, there are already profound measures the government is taking in order to lessen the chances of destruction of houses and building along coastlines. By legalizing special structural designs for houses in these areas, damage will be reduced, if not completely avoided.
This tightening in implementation of structural standards does not only cover professionally built houses and buildings but also those by do it yourself (DIY) methods. The government is aware that many houses erected through DIY methods did not require professional inspection, thus some structural standards governing stability and endurance to extreme wind forces might have been neglected.
Typical building foundations are only designed to resist the effects of gravitational forces. Most are not designed to specially counter lateral forces caused by wind or earthquake. Houses of circular structure are now being developed and included in some do it yourself home kits. Buildings without definite corners and sides such as domes have efficient aerodynamic properties that can withstand winds.
Vulnerable parts of the houses such as windows and doors of houses in these areas are now required under the structural standards to be redesigned. Do it yourself home building techniques are already guided by the code, including ensuring windows that passed 150 mph test and doors installed opening outward instead of inward. Moreover, concrete structures are also designed with additional reinforcement to further their performance.

This product has a couple of pockets on the inside that I like a lot. Seems durable and so far I have not had any problems with it. Fits the T301 well. Worth the price and worth not having to pay more.

Poorly made , The elastic straps that hold the tablet in the case , don’t hold the unit in the case , good thing i was sitting on the couch when it fell out

I added this case a few weeks ago and am happy with it. Not too heavy, good quality, and makes the unit much easier to carry. I got it at Best Buy, by the way, because they had it in stock.
I also like that it has the reel Cruz logo, which just makes me feel happy.

Velocity Leather Portfolio for Cruz Reader and Cruz Tablet – Official Accessory This well made leather case was designed for the Cruz Reader and fits it well. The price is not cheap, but the quality is very nice. The closing strap that may be inserted into place on the front of the portfolio is an adequate closure as long as you carry the portfolio as you would a book. The Cruz Reader is held in place in the case/portfolio by a formed leather holder along the bottom which extends up each side about two inches following the outline of the bottom part of the screen. The bottom of the holder has a convenient opening which gives outlet to the Cruz Reader’s speakers and gives access to the places to plug in the earphones and the power cord, so the reader does not have to be removed from the case for recharging. The top of the reader is held in place by elastic ribbons at each corner which are faced with leather pieces where they cross diagonally over the top corners of the reader. The case provides good protection for the body and screen of the Cruz Reader, and provides a neat-looking way to carry it.
